Mat 2 M.Parsons, J.Winup and Bob Oatway Beat M.Pearce, R.Harrowing and J.Sparham 19-9

After the defeat yesterday we were looking for revenge and got it.

Christine and Sylvia started well leading 5-1 after 5 ends and still in the lead 8-6 after 9 ends then got stuck there ‘till end 14 scoring a 3 a tight game that kept shots down.

Diana, Peter and Joe 3-6 down after 9 ends scored 6 over the next 3 ends but then lost the next 3 ends by single shots to draw 9 all with an end to play, some superb bowls earned a 4 on the last end to give us a 1 shot lead overall.

After the break, Ty and Sheila leading 6-3 after 4 ends then slipped to 7-11 down after 9 ends came back to a 13 all draw after 12 ends but could not score on the last 3 ends.

Mike, John and Bob gelled well after losing the 1st end by 1 shot they then took control except for a glitch on ends 4 and 8 where they dropped a 4 and 3

Overall a pleasing last game of the season

The first half gave us an amazing start of 14 shots Chris & Sylvia played superbly all night and only lost 3 ends. Peter, John and Mike battled from behind to take a 3 on the last end to win. But all of them could only watch in disbelief as the second half had a meltdown and not only lost the shots they gained but a further 16 to give Hevingham revenge for the defeat at ours and their 1st win.

CONNAUGHT V BOB CARTER

Connaught lost to Bob Carter away on Tuesday 10/01/12 by 4-0 and 76-34 on shots

MAT 2 Elaine Oatway,Tyrone Musk and Bob Oatway lost to J.Forster, M.Reynolds and N.Willard 3-24

We never seem to do well at this venue on fast swinging mats, but at times we were holding shots only for the home side to deny us, which is a credit to them for knowing all the lines and using the right weight combination. A great performance from Bill and Diana to get our only win but as it is all on shots we again came away with nothing. But it was an enjoyable game played with great spirit and a never say die attitude.

CONNAUGHT V HEVINGHAM

Connaught beat Hevingham at home on Tuesday 13/12/11 by 2-0 and 51-46 on shots

MAT 1 Chris Musk and Sylvia Parsons beat P.Williamson and V.Woods 13-9

MAT 2 Peter King, Joe LiRocci and Alison Rush beat P.Bunn, A.Bunn and M.Kemp 12-11

After the break

MAT 1 Diana and Bill Adcock lost to G.Bunn and G.Clarke 12-17

MAT 2 Mike Parsons Ty Musk and Bob Oatway beat M.Williamson, E.Heyward and D Sharpe 14-9

Any win is good, and against a good side is even better. Chris & Sylvia seemed to be in control after 7 ends and 8-1 up then Vic changed to lead and started the fight back, after 11 ends the score was 8-7 to us. Sylvia & Chris dug in and scored a 3 & 2 then contained them to 2 singles to run out winners, ends scored were 7 each as the 1st end was a no scoring end. Peter, Joe and Alison won 8 ends never losing the lead played well to win by 1 shot. Diana & Bill up against it, with George, did well to contain the shots. Mike, Ty & Bob had scrappy game ,taking a 4 on the 1st end with the shots well short of the jack, then losing the next 3 by 1 shot each, against the calibre of players like Hevingham woods in the head are vital and sometimes this did not happen and David was accurate in his conversion shots, being left handed also helped, and Bob, not at his best, was short on the drawing woods at times, but they held on and scored 6 over the last 3 ends to win.

CONNAUGHT V KIRBY BEDON

Connaught lost to Kirby Bedon away on Monday 05/12/11 by  2-0 and 52-46 on shots

MAT 1 John Winup,Joe LiRocci and Aliso Rush beat J.Tunmore,J.Hewitt and J.Dye 10-8

MAT 2 Christine Musk and Sylvia Parsons lost to Shirley and Joe Brown 6-23

After the break

MAT 1 Mike Parsons,Tyrone Musk and Bob Oatway beat D.Dawson,P.Johnson and G.Chilvers 19-5

MAT 2 Diana and Bill Adcock lost to C.Johnson and Alistair Hunter 11-16

A reverse of the last fixture where the pairs won this time it was the triples, but could not quite make up the difference. Some hard luck was had in the pairs as we were holding multiple shots at times but were denied by the Kirby skips. overall a resonable result as  Kirby mat 2 is renowned for being tricky.

CONNAUGHT V KIRBY BEDON

Connaught lost to Kirby Bedon at home on Tuesday 29/11/11 by 2-0 and 59-56 on shots

MAT 1 Christine Musk and Sylvia Parsons beat P.Johnson and B. Saunders 17-12

MAT 2 Ken Lurcock, Alison Rush and Joe Li Rocci lost to J.Watson, J.Hewitt and P.Watson 11-19

MAT 1 Ty Musk and Bob Oatway beat L.Chapman and G.Chilvers 19-8

MAT 2 Mike Parsons, John Winup and Peter King lost to C.Johnson, J.Pye and A.Hunter 9-20

A very dissappointing result. To many wasted woods. In this league its shots that count and not necessarily individual mat wins

CONNAUGHT V COLTISHALL

Connaught beat Coltishall at home on Tuesday 8th November by 3-0 and 60-43 on shots

     MAT 1 Christine Musk and Sylvia Parsons beat C. & J.Aggas 21-9

MAT 2 John Winup, Mike Parsons and Peter King beat M.Edridge, B.Bunting and W.Jeffries 12-11

After the break

MAT 1 Diana and Bill Adcock beat V.Bunn and M.Harman 15-12

MAT 2 Tyrone Musk, Elaine Oatway and Bob Oatway beat M.Catchpole, P.Barnett and L.Harman 12-11

Coltishall travelled to Connaught on a better night than we did to theirs a couple of weeks ago and left disappointed as Connaught won all four games.

Sylvia and Chris set the pace by beating Carol and John on mat 1 dropping 3 on the first end they quickly set about gaining control and never looked like relinquishing the lead. With Alison unavailable Mike was brought in and Peter moved to skip and with some good shots ground out a win.

After the break

Bill and Diana 12-5 up after 10 ends then conceded 7 shots over the next 3 ends to be 12-12 with 2 ends to go, took the last 2 ends to get a deserved win

Tyrone, Elaine and Bob always mindful of keeping shots lost to a minimum to preserve the shots gained in the first half played good strategic woods to deny Coltishall any major scoring chances, until the last end where Les’s last wood took out our second wood to get a four, up until that point we were in a position to take the maximum 4 points. Still a win is a win.

CONNAUGHT V COLTISHALL

Connaught lost to Coltishall at Coltishall on Wednesday 12th October by 2-0 and 60-52 on shots

MAT 1 Mike Parsons, Ty. Musk and Bob Oatway lost to M.Catchpole, E.Edridge and W.Jeffries 12-19

MAT 2 Christine Musk and Sylvia Parsons lost to B.Bunting and M.Harman 10-13

After the break

MAT 1 John Winup, Joe LiRochi and Alison Rush lost to V.Bunn, P.Barnett and L.Harman 18-19

MAT 2 Diana Adcock and Shiela Bragg beat C. And J.Aggas 12-9

Connaught travel to Coltishall on a miserable wet night hoping to come away with a win to make up for the weather, but it was not to be as Chris and Sylvia despite going ahead on end 11 by 9-7 lost the next 3 ends by 6 shots and getting a consolation shot on the last end and on the other mat Mike Ty and Bob took ends 11 to 13 by 6 shots to level the game at 12 all but lost the last 2 ends by 7 shots.

After the break Diana and Sheila (standing in for a poorly Bill Adcock) (Get well soon Bill) played well to earn a win. On the other mat John, Joe and Alison gelled well with John in tremendous form at lead and Joe and Alison playing well they were unfortunate to be 4 down after 10 ends but a superb end followed where they scored a maximum of 6 shots to take a 16-14 lead, Coltishall hit back on the next 2 ends scoring 4 and 1 Connaught took the last 2 ends but only with a single shot on each.

A slightly disappointing start to the league, as there are only 6 teams this year every point will count, so we must look to earn points over the next games.
